"Legalizzazione di un documento" is the process of authenticating a document issued in one country for use in another country. In the case of a Chinese citizen who wants to buy a property or register a company in Italy, they may need to have certain documents, such as identification documents or business registration certificates, legalized in order to be recognized as valid in Italy.

The process of legalizing a document involves several steps, including:

  1. Notarization: The document must be notarized by a public notary (Notaio) or other authorized person in the country where it was issued.

  2. Authentication: The document must be authenticated by the relevant government agency in the country where it was issued. This may involve obtaining an apostille or other form of certification.

  3. Legalization: The document must be legalized by the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the country where it was issued. This involves verifying the authenticity of the notarization and authentication.

NOTE: if the document is used in a public office such as Notary, Court or Immigration Department, the content needs to be translated in Italian by a CTU Translator. The mandatory steps becomes:

  1. Notarization by Notary In China

  2. Translation by CTU in Italy

  3. Authentication by Italian Court

  4. Legalization by Embassy/Consulate
